...Bill Gates? Seems that if you forward a certain e-mail to all your friends, Microsoft will pay you $245!! For every person your friends forward the message to, you'll get paid $243!! And so on. How to you know it's not a scam? Because the e-mail promising this comes from a lawyer who tried it and made over $4,000!
I've lost track of how many of these e-mails I or my wife have received! And this one came from a member of our church who should know better.
Another person in our church attends as a "faithful" Lutheran but will also go to Rick Joyner's church (see previous posts on Joyner). Makes me wonder what else these two people would believe and how quickly they might abandon Christ if a convincing offer came along.
It would seem that too many people don't believe in using their brains anymore. Now, to answer that letter from the Nigerian princess....

Report says TV losing its religion
Are TV networks tuning out religion?
One of the entertainment industry's biggest watchdog groups says yes, although it gives reality shows high marks for showing frequent, unscripted outbursts of faith.
A study released Thursday by the Parents Television Council, a frequent critic of the TV industry over such issues as broadcast indecency, found that prime-time shows in the last year dealt with religion half as much as the year before. When they did, the Los Angeles-based group said, religion was cast in negative light more than one-third of the time.
I think the situation is worse than that - I would estimate that Christianity is cast in a negative light
at least 90% of the time on the Trinity Broadcasting and Inspiration Networks! Let's hear it for the secular stations for doing a better job!
...The More They Stay the Same
Some interesting information over at the
Christian History Institute on early heresies and early apologists of the 2nd century:
While persecution continues intermittently from without, heresies pose major dangers from within and must be answered. Heresies include: GNOSTICISM -- A kind of New Age movement that claimed special knowledge.
MARCIONISM -- An attempt to reduce the Scriptures--both the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures -- to a few select books
MONTANISM -- A charismatic movement that got carried away with new revelations, prophecies, and judgmental attitudes toward other Christians.
• Apologists, or explainers of the faith, emerge to combat heresy and answer the church's opponents. Key apologists include Irenaeus and Justin Martyr.
Sure sounds like the new revelations and special knowledge so many of today's preachers and speakers are claiming to have, doesn't it? Sounds like those who downplay the intellect and emphasize feelings and predict civil wars breaking out between the two. You can rest assured that Irenaeus and Justin Martyr would not be welcome on the Trinity Broadcasting Network nor the Inspiration Network.
Break Out the Wine
Prophet Chuck Pierce is saying today what "prophets" have been echoing now for well over a decade -
warnings about new wine and old wineskins:
WATCH AND EXPECT VISITATION AND WINESKINS TO CHANGE!"
...With this being The Year of the Sword, we will see the Word become a reality in the earth realm in a new way. The Lord is developing a people who will represent His Word with great maturity and authority.
...You will have Divine Warnings this year. Be willing to change courses so you can protect that which Heaven is bringing forth on your behalf. Heed your dreams, warnings, checks in your spirit, and the still, small Voice telling you which way to go!
...The prayer movement will change this year! We will move from being praying intercessors, to apostolic, decreeing watchmen. Apostles will become those watching for strategies to unlock harvest fields.
...I see this as the year the Spirit of God will test and qualify many apostles and prophets who will lead His Kingdom plan in the earth realm in the next 10 years. Apostles must be rightly connected with prophets and process revelation that is being released from the Throne Room. The prophetic anointing will grow and be unlocked in new ways this year. There is much revelation stored in your bone marrow that the Word of the Lord will pierce and release for many to profit from. Leaders who are unwilling to receive revelation of God's present truth and methods will clash with those in their own networks and attempt to persecute the rising apostolic, prophetic generation.
There is the bottom line: if you dare oppose the apostolic movement led by people like C. Peter Wagner, Chuck Pierce, Kim Clement, etc., you are opposing God's
present truth - as opposed to the old dusty, outdated truth of Scripture, I guess. Ya gotta be in on the latest and greatest that God is doing, ya know?
More on Rick Joyner
All of this is old news, but it will provide more background on Rick Joyner's past for those who don't know. Back in May of 1996 in his
Morning Star Bulletin, Joyner prophesied:
On February 23rd of this year I was shown for the third time that the church was headed for a spiritual civil war. I was first given an impression of this in 1988. At the beginning of 1995 I saw it again in a dream, which I wrote down as The Hordes Of Hell, Part I. On February 23rd I was told that it was time to straightforwardly warn the church, and to begin preparing for this great war with the resolve to fight until there was a complete victory. The definition of a complete victory in this war would be the complete overthrow of the Accuser of the Brethren's strongholds in the church. Such a victory sounds like a good thing to fight for, but for a long time the battle to win such a victory will look like one of the greatest defeats that the church has ever suffered. The accuser will arise from some of the most unexpected places, and people. This will, in fact, be one of the most cruel battles the church has ever faced. Like every civil war, it will cause brother to turn against brother like we may have never witnessed in the church before.
.... At times Christians almost universally will be loath to even call themselves Christians. Believers and unbelievers alike will think that it is the end of Christianity as we know it, and it will be. Through this the very definition of Christianity will be changed, for the better.
....Many will use doctrinal differences or other issues as justification for their attacks on their brothers, but the real cause will be over a loss, or potential loss, of money. Big ministry can be big money. Because many churches and ministries are built with considerable debt, financial pressures can cause leaders to do things they would not otherwise do.
....There is a huge portion of the church which is held in bondage to the same religious spirit that manifested itself in the Pharisees, and it will attack any new movement that arises in the church. The more anointed a new movement is, the more these traditionalists will be threatened by it, and the more vehemently they will attack it.
....Like the American Civil War, the coming spiritual civil war will also be between the Blue and the Grey. In dreams and visions blue often represents heavenly — mindedness — the sky is blue — and the grey speaks of those who live by the power of their own minds — the brain is often called the grey matter. This will be a conflict between those who may be genuine Christians, but who live mostly according to their natural minds and human wisdom, and those who follow the Holy Spirit.
....After this great spiritual civil war, there will no longer be a white church and a black church. Neither will many of the present distinguishing characteristics that categorize Christians into groups continue to exist. There will be an entirely new definition of Christianity, which the Lord Jesus Himself has already written. The world will know us by our love.
Rick Joyner
You'll have to excuse the lack of entries recently, but 1. There isn't always much new to write about and, 2. I exhibited lack of faith and got sick. Serves me right!
Some have asked about the beliefs of Rick Joyner (Morningstar Ministries). Although he generally isn't quite as careless as Kim Clement, he does claim to be a prophet. Here is an excerpt from a recent prophecy from the
Elijah List:
THE CHURCH IS BEING PREPARED TO RULE WITH HER KING -- AND THE WEALTH OF THE NATIONS WILL BE COMING TO US
We, too, are about to come out of our slavery, and the wealth of the nations will be coming to us. What are we going to do with it? The Lord is trying to prepare and mature us, so that it is not frivolously wasted or greedily consumed on ourselves, but is used for what will be of maximum benefit to us and to all of mankind--to build Him a dwelling place just as Israel did in the wilderness.
...Like Israel, the Church has been in slavery, is being set free, is learning how to manage unprecedented wealth and resources, and is being prepared to rule over the earth with her King as soon as the iniquity of the world is complete. That is, when sin has come to full maturity so that the earth can no longer bear it.
Great! Perhaps Rick can revive Heritage USA once again with all that money! By the way, he said the same thing December 31st, 1999 on TBN.

Isn't it interesting how so many leaders try to appeal to people by promising them wealth?
What does he think comprises the true church? In an
earlier prophecy he wrote:
The Lord said that He would build His church, and the true church is being built by the Lord, on a foundation that is Him. However, He is using men who compose His body to do the work. He uses men to lead, through the councils of apostles and elders, such as He used in the first century.
...As I said in the beginning of this study, if we are not going to be deceived in these times, we need to spend much more time seeking to understand what Christ is doing, than what the antichrist is doing. Likewise, I think we should spend much more time studying true Christianity (rather than the counterfeits).
True, Rick, but by studying true Christianity you learn to recognize the counterfeits.
Watch Those California Fires
I wasn't going to bother reporting Kim Clement's latest prophesies, but since the Elijah List has seen fit to promote them today, here goes with his 50/50 hindsight prophecies from
Humble Texas, November 18, 2006:
The Spirit of God says watch over the Christmas season for there shall be the igniting of fires. The summer and the heat shall go through to November, this was a sign to my people that I am causing things to accelerate. I'm causing everything to multiply so that you may have access into the better things of the kingdom of darkness for they have ruled for too long. My kingdom is about to appear. Yes, it's about to appear as it appeared to Daniel, as it appeared to Joseph, as it appeared to Isaiah, as it appeared to Enoch. Four great anointings are coming unto the earth. God says I will give you access to the market place. Acceleration has begun, I am hastening my Word to perform it and you will not have to wait much longer says the Spirit of God.
Naturally, this prophecy went up on his web site AFTER the current fires in California began. Come on, Kim, why don't you prophesy the Mojave Desert catching fire, and when it does we'll believe you!
He's also capitalizing on the age of some of some of Christianity's leaders. In the same prophecy he proclaimed:
The Spirit of God says my servant, Billy Graham, shall rest his head. God says the people must not morn for I speak to you of Isaiah Chapter 6 in the day that King Uzziah died Isaiah said I saw the Lord high and lifted up and his glory filled the temple. When my servant Billy Graham dies and is brought into heaven, the people shall see the Lord as they have never seen Him before and a realm of double portion evangelism shall strike this nation says the Spirit of the Living God. My servant Oral Roberts shall also be received very close and the Spirit of God says when he is received a prosperity shall come upon my people as it has never been. God says do not lose sight of what they carried, not the men, but the mantle. For you shall see the men going but the mantle shall remain says the Spirit of God.
Interestingly enough, Elijah List didn't report this part of Clement's prophecy from his web site. Perhaps they recognized the bad taste it would leave in peoples' mouths.
A Warning to Today's Teachers
One can only imagine what Martin Luther would be saying today if he could see and hear what passes for Christianity on this continent. I suspect he would be posting at least 100 Theses on the door of Lakewood Church and countless others who speak everything from their pulpits
except the Gospel. From one of Luther's sermons:
4. So much for the call into the office. But Christ is not speaking of that here; for something more is required, namely, that no rival or supplementary doctrine be introduced, nor another word be taught than Christ has taught. Christ says in Mt. 23:2-4: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat: all things therefore whatsoever they bid you, these do and observe: but do not ye after their works; for they say and do not. Yea, they bind heavy burdens too grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger.” Although these of whom Christ here speaks were regularly appointed, yet they were thieves and murderers; for they taught variations from Christ’s teaching. Christ reproves them in another place, in Matthew 15:3, where he holds up before them their traditions and tells them how, through their own inventions, they have transgressed the commandments of God, yea, totally abolished them. We have also many prophets who were regularly appointed and still were misled, like Balaam, of whom we read in Num.22; also Nathan, described in 2 Sam 7:3. Similarly many bishops have erred. 376
5. Here Christ says: He who would enter by the door must be ready to speak the Word concerning Christ and his word must center in Christ. Let it be called “coming” when one preaches aright; the approaching is spiritual, and through the Word—upon the ears of his hearers, the preacher comes at last into the sheepfold—the heart of believers. Christ says that the shepherd must enter by the door; that is, preach nothing but Christ, for Christ is the door into the sheepfold.
6. But where there are intruders, who make their own door, their own hole to crawl through, their own addition different from that which Christ taught, they are thieves. Of these Paul says to the Romans (16:17-18): “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them that are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which ye learned: and turn away from them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and fair speech they beguile the hearts of the innocent.” Paul does not speak of opposing or antagonistic doctrines, but of those placed beside the true doctrine; they are additions, making divisions. Paul calls it a rival doctrine, an addition, an occasion of stumbling, an offense and a byway, when one establishes the conscience upon his own goodness or deeds.
7. Now, the Gospel is sensitive, complete and pre-eminent: it must be intolerant of additions and rival teachings. The doctrine of earning entrance into heaven by virtue of fastings, prayers and penance is a branch road, which the Gospel will not tolerate. But our Church authorities endorse these things, hence they are thieves and murderers; for they do violence to our consciences, which is slaying and destroying the sheep. How is this accomplished? If only I am directed into a branch or parallel road, then my soul is turned from God upon that road, where I must perish. Thus this road is the cause of my death. The conscience and heart of man must be founded upon one single Word or they will come to grief. “All flesh is grass, and all the
goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field” (Is 40:6).
8. The doctrines of men, however admirable, fall to the ground, and with them the conscience that has built upon them. 377 There is no help nor remedy. But the Word of God is eternal and must endure forever; no devil can overthrow it. The foundation is laid upon which the conscience may be established forever. The words of men must perish and everything that cleaves to them. Those who enter not by the door—that is, those who do not speak the true and pure Word of God, without any addition—do not lay the right foundation; they destroy and torture and slaughter the sheep. Therefore, Christ says further in this Gospel: “But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. This (Non)-Religious Persecution Has GOT To Stop!!!
Doesn't your heart just go out to the poor, persecuted atheists these days? From the
Virginia Pilot, September 5, 2006:
He's an electrical tradesman, a budding investor in real estate, a doting dad whose young son is infatuated with pirates. But in his busy life, Jeremy Martin still finds time to rebut accusations that atheists like him will burn in hell. ...Martin's godlessness may be anathema to the region's large faith-based community, but he has like-minded company in Freethinkers and Atheists of Virginia.
...Their journeys to atheism are varied, but they share a concern: that society has become so biased toward religion, it threatens their freedom not to believe.
....What frustrates atheists is not that they are outnumbered, but that they are reviled. "We are the last group in the United States who it's politically correct to hate and discriminate against," said Dave Silverman, a spokesman for American Atheists Inc., a 43-year-old national advocacy group. "In the Bible Belt, it's even worse."
...Yvette and Matt Edwards, who live in Norfolk, said hostility was plain in the reactions their atheist-themed bumper stickers seemed to elicit from passers-by.
I can't quite put my finger on the reason why, but these arguments seem strangely familiar!
