Meet the Antichrist's Wife!

You think the antichrist is going to be powerful? Never mind him - look out for the wife! From the Miami Herald:

Life with the Antichrist: Wife divorcing preacher

Josefina De Jesus Torres gently runs her perfect French manicure across the pages of her wedding album, ruminating on life as the wife of the self-proclaimed Antichrist.

In one picture, church leader Jose Luis De Jesus Miranda pulls off her garter with his teeth. In another, the couple sip frothy champagne in front of a gleaming limo.

''He was my apostle, the perfect man . . . the Prince Charming -- even better: God himself had come to love me,'' sighs Torres, a doe-eyed honey blonde. ``I felt better than the Virgin Mary.''

Torres says she often washed his feet and cut his fingernails and toenails as a sign of devotion.

Now, though, the romance that De Jesus told her was divinely decreed has ended in the most temporal of battlefields: divorce court. And, amid court revelations about his personal spending, she is speaking out publicly about life with the controversial Miami-based preacher.

...In two three-hour interviews, Torres described a tumultuous life, saying De Jesus regularly ordered her away, sending church bishops to remove her from the house and pack up her clothing. She says he told her details of sexual escapades with other women who were members of the church.

Clement: Placing All His Eggs in One Basket

You've got to say one thing about Kim Clement - he's persistent. On June 16th in San Jose, CA he once again issued the proclamation that a new source of energy that would break the Middle East hold on America. In fact, he's now saying there will be five new sources of energy:

The Spirit of God says I spoke about treasure that would come but it is not for the unrighteous. For the unrighteous have always uncovered and taken for themselves and then my people borrowed -- No more borrowing. You shall lend to many nations. You shall be the head and not the tail. You are about to go over and not under says the Lord. Hear the Word of the Lord tonight. There is a mass treasure that is about to be uncovered and My people will get it. My people will take it. The forces that have hidden and endeavored to hide what is about to be uncovered, they have been annihilated, they have been dreadfully secured. Now even as I promised, through these next few months one thing after another will be uncovered. Down in Florida it began but God says on the pacific, the west coast, there is also great discovery. You will not have to struggle for the breakthrough that is coming to you.

You are not going under, you're going over. There is a miraculous thing that is about to be uncovered. For even in the stepping down of Tony Blair, this is a sign, a good man, a man that I used as a friend to this nation. God said there would be a sign that the great "E" would be rapidity, an acceleration so that America would suddenly have five new sources of energy. There shall be five, not one, but five. They will say what do we do now, we have so many sources. Shall we create and design an engine in this way and shall we design a plane in this way? What about the air, what is in the air? God says, Listen what is in the sea? What is in the land? What is the air? What is in the dolphin, the whale and the octopus? Listen, God says America get ready to stand upright again. I will cause My church to prosper first for I will give the patent to you for this day I have said I will secure it until I find a righteous man who will take it and say I have patented it for the kingdom of God. It shall be given for God's work and God's work shall accelerate says the Lord.
The Elijah List then strongly hinted that this prophecy is being fulfilled:

SAN FRANCISCO--City officials announced plans Tuesday to explore the potential the powerful tides beneath the Golden Gate Bridge hold for generating electricity, a project they hope would make San Francisco a showcase for the experimental field of tidal energy.
Of course, this is something that has been explored for years. Nothing new here, Kim.

Why Isn't My Theology Working?

According to the Ugandan newspaper New Vision, June 16, 2007, Benny Hinn can't understand why God doesn't always heal. Typically, Word of Faith teachers maintain that if you aren't healed, it's due to lack of faith. However, according to the newspaper:

Benny Hinn revealed to a Times reporter in 2003 that he does wonder why God does not heal some people. For instance, Hinn is puzzled why God has not cured his heart condition. Hinn's mother has diabetes and his father died of cancer. "I told my daddy to believe but he died. Now I don't know why," Hinn said.

One would think it might occur to Benny that it might be wise to revise his theology to conform with Scripture.

Taking a Heresy Break

There won't be any entries until next Friday as I will be heading back to Canada for a few days. No, I won't be attending Camp Quest in Niagara Falls. I can't see Camp Quest from here so I don't believe it exists.

Summer Camp For Humanists

Tired of all those Christian camps that teach that the universe didn't evolve from random chance? Well, here's your chance to bring up the kids proper-like. From the North Carolina Star News Online:

Summer camps for humanists

Starting next week, God-free camps called Camp Quest will open in six locations in North America. The sleepaway summer camps are for children from agnostic, atheist or humanist families. Camp Quest programs are being set up in Ohio, California, Ontario, Michigan, Minnesota. A Tennessee program will be added in 2008.

While the kids will participate in classic summer camp activities such as horsebackriding, archery and swimming, they'll also learn about critical thinking, science and humanist values.

One exercise, for instance, challenges kids to disprove the existence of two invisible unicorns at the camp. The camps are funded through grants from The Institute for Humanist Studies in Albany, N.Y.

To our humanist friends out there -- Have you ever considered sending your kids to a god-free summer camp?

NEVER Interrupt Benny Hinn!

From yesterday's New Zealand Herald:

Benny Hinn and Tourette's

5:00AM Sunday June 10, 2007
By Jonathan Marshall

They came in their droves to feel the power of teflon televangelist Benny Hinn.

It's Friday night and Benny's in the house - the house of God - and in Benny's house no kids are allowed in the aisles, no talking during the anointing and, apart from an occasional "amen" and "hallelujah", no chatter permitted at all.

And that's without exceptions, as one woman apparently suffering from Tourette's syndrome discovered when she was rudely ushered out of Benny's house, Auckland's Vector Arena.

"Shut up. You cannot be speaking when I am preaching. Nobody can do that here. We cannot allow people to be speaking back to me when I am ministering the word," Hinn yelled.

Pastor Hinn required conformity from an audience, which included many who were sick and had come to be healed.

"I have come to give you the word of the Lord," Hinn proclaimed. And the Lord sure does move in mysterious ways.

According to surely one of his best-paid prophets, it's estimated Hinn's annual income is US$100-$200 million.

"This is the house of the Lord. Don't let your children play in the aisles."

To a second parent, Hinn insisted: "This is not your house and not a football stadium."

Another churchgoer was also humiliated in front of the 7000-strong audience, this time a lone man, who was discovered wandering around the auditorium.

"Would you please find a seat? You must understand, distraction kills the anointing and I won't allow no one to distract me, so sit down now. I am not going to change," Hinn snapped.

Just LOVE the Seeker-Sensitive Movement

.....and their total lack of discernment. From the Christian Report Blog:

Willow Creek Chooses Jimmy Carter for Leadership Summit

Yesterday, I received a promotional mailing for the Leadership Summit at Willow Creek. I quickly opened the slick marketing package to learn about this year’s list of speakers and the other pertinent information. Then, like an unexpected punch in the stomach, I saw that former President Jimmy Carter was listed as a speaker, about leadership.

...In recent weeks, Carter has caused a rift in the Baptist Church over the liberal gathering at the New Baptist Convenant. This event, aimed at bringing faction of Baptists together, has turned out to be a divisive regret. Carter has also been a vocal critic of the Faith-based initiatives of the current administration, saying, “ As a traditional Baptist, I've always believed in separation of church and state and honored that premise when I was president, and so have all other presidents, I might say, except this one."
He's also well-known for his liberal views of Scripture, abortion, etc.

The World Trade Center Victims All Brought It Upon Themselves!

That got your attention, didn't it? Now, read this quote from the much ballyhooed "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne:

Dr. Joe Vitale: Everything that surrounds you right now in your life, including the things you're complaining about, you've attracted. Now I know at first blush that's going to be something that you hate to hear. You're going to immediately say, "I didn't attract the car accident. I didn't attract this particular client who gives me a hard time. I didn't particularly attract the debt." And I'm here to be a little bit in your face and to say, yes you did attract it. This is one of the hardest concepts to get, but once you've accepted it, it's life transforming."
Rhonda Byrnes: Often when people first hear this part of the Secret they recall events in history where masses of lives were lost, and they find it incomprehensible that so many people could have attracted themselves to the event. Bu the law of attraction, they had to be on the same frequency as the event. It doesn't necessarily mean they thought of that exact event, but the frequency of their thoughts matched the frequency of the event. If people believe they can be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and they have no control over outside circumstances, those thoughts of fear, separation, and powerlessness, if persistent, can attract them to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. (The Secret, Chapter: The Secret Made Simple, p. 27-28)
If you believe this stuff, then it all of those World Trade Center victims were responsible for their own demise, since their negative thoughts resulted in them being in the wrong place at the wrong time. So why blame the terrorists? They must have had positive thoughts about the success of their mission! Hitler must have had positive thoughts about the death of 6 million Jews!

That is the danger in this book that has spent 15 weeks at number 1 on the NY Times Best-Seller List.

Joel Osteen's Self-Centered Gospel

Joel Osteen's e-mailed "Today's Word" message this morning reads:

My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love.” (1 John 3:18)

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

It’s important for you to let those special people in your life know how much you appreciate their love and faithfulness to you. It’s easy for human beings to let their love stop with words. Now loving words are certainly crucial to a love relationship, but words by themselves are not enough. The Bible says very clearly that we are to love not just by the words we say, but by the deeds of love that we do for others. There is absolutely no limit to the good things that can happen when you decide to let love be the driving force in your life. True love is so strong that the Bible says, “Many waters cannot quench love” (Song of Songs 8:7). That’s a wonderful promise that when you choose to love, your efforts will not be in vain. God will open the windows of heaven and rain down His joy, abundance and favor on you when you learn to love the way He loves.

Once again, what starts out as a great message on helping others gets turned around so that the motivation for doing these things becomes to get rewarded and receive favor. We know from Your Best Life Now what he means by favor - good seats on aircraft, etc.
