I would be interested to find out if any linguist has ever done a study of people like this who "speak in tongues" to actually identify if they are speaking a language that is in use or if they are just making it up. Even if there are some syllables or patterns that correspond to one or more living languages, it would be interesting to see what a linguist could transcribe from the conversation. Hence why one shouldn't speak in tongues without an interpreter :)
